The Tokyo Niwa House was designed to be a personal residence for myself in the Ginza shopping district of Tokyo. The house is called “Niwa” (garden in Japanese) because the twisting formation of clustered bamboo and its roots inspired the design. The building is a mixed use art gallery and residence.

The Miami Temple is a conceptual design for a multi-denominational prayer chapel. The building contains chapels for Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Non Denomination. The chapels are made of 20′ x 40′ precast concrete modules stacked in an alternating pattern of five. The temple serves as a vessel of peace in the midst of a chaotic metropolis.

The purpose of this Study is to show that the American Urban Park can transcend the ideal of being used solely as a venue for recreation and sporting events, and instead be a tool for education and appreciating the natural environment modeled in the focus of traditional garden design. This illustrates the need for parks that serve the intellectual, spiritual and emotional aspects of the human experience, giving under-nourished historical sites a new life and making them productive contributors to the cities that they help define.
